We crossed Colombia’s Central Cordillera (mountain range) twice on our trip. This was the first time, cycling over the mountains in the eje-cafetero (the coffee-growing ‘triangle’). There was never a dull moment traveling by bicycle, and you always wonder to yourself, “What will it be today?” We spent two entire days just cycling up to this pass. When we got the other side, we were stunned by the immediate change in climate and landscape. We decided to camp close to the top just so we could enjoy these incredible downhill views in the morning. Delayed gratification always seemed to pay off.
